Lily Apparition #03
There are several scenes in the music video, The Raven That Refused to Sing, where Lily appears to Eliah as a ghostly apparition. To achieve this, we created some 'Lily' puppets using a drawn black pen line on clear acetate sheet to create a 'see - through' effect. We explored different views of Lily (side & front views) along with articulated full - body options, where the joints were secured using super - thin clear acrylic thread.
Construction: Black wood frame + glazing and white card window mount. Lily puppet in clear acetate with drawn black pen line. Background is black card with white overspray stencil details.

Redemption
Towards the end of The Raven That Refused To Sing music video, Eliah realises that he needs to escape the 'darkness' that has been ruling his life since Lily passed away. He stands at the door holding the bird cage and stares into the blackness, then he sets the Raven free. An apparition of Lily appears before him and beckons him to come to her. He is unsure what is happening, but summons up the courage to step into the darkness towards Lily. Their hands touch and they hold hands as Lily slowly fades away. Suddenly Eliah is outside in the daylight and he looks back at the cabin that has been his prison for many years. He turns and walks away as he realises that he has found redemption.
Construction: Black wood frame and glass with white card mount. Articulated puppets formed from watercolour paint on textured paper and mounted on card.

Eliah Collecting Wood in the Forest
We have based this assembled original 3D artwork on the scene that unfolds in the first minute of the music video, 'The Raven That Refused To Sing'. Eliah is out in the woods collecting wood for the fire as the 'darkness' descends upon him and leads to our first view of the Raven. The assembled puppet of Eliah and the trees in the foreground are part of the original props that we made for the 'Raven' video.
Construction: Wood and glass deep box frame with window mount. Eliah puppet and trees formed from watercolour paint on textured paper and mounted on card backing. Background snow/forest scene is white spray paint on clear acrylic sheet with black backing.

I Miss You So Much
This is the latest piece of original artwork from the 'The Raven That Refused to Sing' music video and utilising the puppets that we made for the production. The scene featuring Eliah and Lily happens around 4 minutes and 18 seconds into the music video. They are both reaching out to each other just as the huge 'Shadow' arms reach in through the window to snatch Lily away.
You hear the haunting guitar of Govan Guthrie and backed by Adam, Nick and Marco.....then Steven comes in and sings :
"Sing to me, raven, I miss her so much
Sing to me, Lily, I miss you so much...."

Sing for me Damn You!
At about 3 minutes and 34 seconds into 'The Raven That Refused to Sing', Eliah attempts to feed the caged Raven. The relationship between Eliah and the Raven was fractured and any chance that the Raven would sing for Eliah, seemed remote.
The hands and arms are made from textured watercolour paper with black line detail and watercolour paint. All the joints in the hands are 'articulated' using hand-made fine brass wire coiled hinges to allow movement in the video production.
Presented in a glazed black box frame 335mm x 335mm x 35mm deep.
Eliah Reaches out to the Ghost of Lily
At approximately 1 minute and 39 seconds into 'The Raven that Refused to Sing' music video, you see Eliah out in the snow and on his knees. He sees an apparition of his sister, Lily and reaches out to hug her. Steven sings..." Sister I lost you, you were still a child.." It is a very sad moment in the video as you witness Eliah's loss.
Eliah is made from watercolour paper with paint and ink detail to form an 'articulated' 2D puppet. Lily is formed from clear acetate with black outline details and is also an 'articulated' 2D puppet. The acetate allowed us to create the ghostly transparent image to represent Lily. The puppets are encapsulated in a black deep-boxed glazed picture frame.

Awaiting Redemption
This is an original watercolour scene from the 'Raven' music video at approximately 6 mins and 24 secs into the video.Prior to this scene, Eliah had taken the Raven outside and shook the caged bird violently in a fit of rage. He then brings the stunned caged bird back into his cabin, as an ominous blackness engulfs the outside. Eliah then turns towards the back door, opens it and then steps out into the blackness.
